ENTRY 3: THE LEWIS MODEL
Following the Lewis Model we can see that South Korea is more like a 'Reactive' country. This is because of some characteristics that are very common to this culture type, such as being good listeners. Also, the communication they had is based on “monologue–pause– reflection–monologue”. The people in this country are really organized, very respectful (it is part of their culture, and here we can find a lot of differences from us in Colombia like we are more informal and loud people).
Talking about studies, we think if an exchange student from South Korea came here to Colombia, they would probably feel uneasy because we care less about the matter, they are well known for being studious and skilful. On the other hand, maybe because of that they would feel more relaxed.
Also, it might be weird for them, the fact that we have friends older than us, taking into account that in South Korea they only consider friends people that have the same age or are born in the same year. Another thing could be that most Colombians like partying and going out.
Another fact could be that when we are in class debates (discussing what we know about a topic), Colombians tend to interrupt to make their point or to ask something that is not clear. This in South Korea is not well seen because they may feel disrespected for not feeling heard and not having a more leisurely and calm conversation.
