ENTRY 2: GENDER STEREOTYPES

Even if South Korea and Colombia had a lot of differences when we talk about gender stereotypes, we can see that there are distinct similarities between these two countries.

We have women portrayed as the ones that are weak, have to be polite, give birth to the child and take care of everything in the house (such as cooking and cleaning). While, on the other hand: men are portrayed as the stronger one (who has the authority) and it's who brings money to sustain the family.

Despite this, there are also obvious differences. As is the fact that in Korea it is normal to see a man have good style (take care of his image with how he dresses) and wear makeup, and it is something really common in both men, women and adults , because they consider this as a way to look better and others, like many idols wear makeup, people there have gotten used to seeing it as something normal and that it does not depend on gender. Things that in Colombia are only seen as "well seen" in women. Women in Colombia are the ones who must take care of their image the most, and always dress presentable, something that is not expected so much from a man.
